Goal Setting

Goal setting stimulates creativity, promotes growth and helps you fulfil your potential. Goal setting motivates you to achieve what you want. Choosing your goals and aiming to achieve those goals means you spend your time doing things that align with your values, giving what you do a sense of purpose. You choose the direction your life takes.

Steps to help you get more of what you want in your life:

1. Visualise what you want

Imagine you in 5 years time or less having attained your dream. Keep your vision clear and specific. For example rather than a new car how about a 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe, it is not enough to want any new car, be specific. Once you have a clear vision focus on how it makes you feel.

2. Write down your goals

This asserts what you are working towards. Can be used as a reminder to keep you on track.

3. Measure your goals

So you know when you reach your goal. For example €50,000 rather than more money , you will know when you reach your target.

4. Turn each goal into an action plan

Break your goals down into manageable steps. Take daily actions on those steps.

5. Be realistic in that it is practical and can be achieved

6. Understand the time involved

Set a realistic deadline for your goals and for your steps in your action plan.

7. Review and assess your goals

To keep momentum
