Start learning in 2023!

Are you looking for clarinet or saxophone lessons for yourself and/or your child? Contact me to secure a place in this year’s lesson schedule! I am classically-trained musician offering primarily classically-centric courses – looking at how to read music, how to feel music, and how to play music accurately! Most importantly, we will work together to make something sound beautiful.

There is no age limitation on learning! Whether you have a child who is learning an instrument for the first time, or you are retired and looking for a new hobby, I will ensure to give you a quality education.

My philosophy includes making sure that you know exactly what you need to know in order to play your instrument safely and confidently. Not only this, I believe that it is important that every person has the opportunity to expand upon this knowledge and understand why it works. Why do we breathe into our diaphragm? Why do we hold the clarinet the way we do? How do reeds work, exactly?

For more advanced players, this will include a deeper understanding on the periodic playing of your pieces of music, accuracy in more advanced technique and phrasing, and an opportunity to look at the theory behind the music.

Term 4 Enrolments Open Now!

Are you keen to begin or continue learning clarinet or saxophone in Term 4, 2021? Contact me to secure a place!

If you’re new to music, I will take you through all of the necessary fundamentals of music reading, rhythmic ability, posture, and instrument-specific techniques. In all lessons we will not only work on developing your proficiency as a player of your instrument, but also your ability as a well-rounded musician. This includes developing required music theory knowledge and ensuring that you understand not only what to do to achieve your goals, but why these techniques work. For more advanced players, this will incorperate a deep understanding of the directions and phrasings of the music, aiming for accuracy in performance practices.

Due to the ongoing health situation in the ACT, the first 4 weeks of term 4 will be online, in line with the current plan to open schools in week 5. I primarily utilise Zoom for online lessons, however I am more than willing to try other video conferencing platforms if required.

If you have any questions regarding the processes, or myself, don’t hesitate to reach out either via my contact or my Facebook pages.

Online Delivery

Due to the current health situation in the ACT, all lessons are to be delivered online. I generally use Zoom, however if you have a preferred online video sharing platform, contact me for alternate delivery arrangements.

New enquiries are always welcome, with the first few lessons to be delivered online and then option for face-to-face if you live in the Canberra region after lockdown. If you are interested in purely online delivery, then continuing online lessons indefinitely is also an option.
